2023 – MSFD Annual Report

2023 was a year of significant change for the Manitou Springs Fire Department and the citizens and visitors of our community. Most notably, tremendous efforts to create the first ever EMS Transport Division of the Manitou Springs Fire Department were implemented in February. The new EMS Transport Division was envisioned to greatly reduce the response time for an ambulance to arrive at an incident and transport patients of injury or illness.

On behalf of all members of the Manitou Springs Fire Department, I would like to thank our city’s leaders and our community for your support and wish you all a very safe and healthful 2024.

Sincerely,

John K. Forsett
Fire Chief

For the Manitou Springs Fire Department, the pandemic provided many opportunities for change, particularly as they pertained to providing emergency medical care in the field. Everything from personal protective gear ensembles and use, to emergency medical guidelines became very dynamic. Even under the difficult circumstances of COVID- 19, the department worked very hard to maintain unmatched professional services to our community.

2019 was a wonderful year for the department with many opportunities that favored our ability to provide fantastic professional service to our community. Of most importance, the department took delivery of a new Class A Engine that replaced a previous engine that had proudly served the community for 23 years.
